The route

Your vehicle ships from the UK to Limassol, typically arriving in around 14 days. We offer both RoRo (drive-on, drive-off) and enclosed container shipping, depending on the vehicle and your preference.

For time-critical deliveries, we also run an express route: overland through Europe to Greece, then RoRo across to Cyprus — cutting transit to around 6 days.

What it costs, honestly

Most exporters bury the numbers. We lead with them.

Import duty — often £0. Under the UK–EU trade agreement, vehicles built in the UK qualify for 0% import duty in Cyprus. That covers most British marques — Range Rover, Jaguar, Bentley, Aston Martin, Rolls-Royce, McLaren, Mini, Lotus. We verify origin eligibility for every car before you commit, and we provide the statement of origin that customs requires. Vehicles that don't qualify pay 10%.

Cyprus VAT — 19%, calculated on the customs value (the car, plus freight and insurance).

UK VAT — never. Export sales are zero-rated. You pay tax once, in Cyprus — not twice.

Shipping — quoted per vehicle. Rates move with the shipping lines, so we quote each car individually — RoRo or enclosed container.

Moving to Cyprus?

If you're transferring your normal residence to Cyprus, you may be entitled to import one vehicle free of both duty and VAT — provided you've owned and used it for at least six months before the move and import it within 12 months of relocating. Resale restrictions apply after import; we'll point you to the current official requirements and help you get the paperwork right.

Why a UK car, not a Japanese import

Cyprus drives on the left, so the island buys from two places: Japan and the UK. The difference is what you can verify.

A UK car comes with a checkable life: full MOT history, recorded mileage at every test, documented ownership — all of it verifiable through official UK records before you pay a deposit. An auction import asks you to trust a grade on a sheet, written by someone you'll never meet, in a system you can't check.

We only sell what we can prove. Every vehicle is checked against official UK history records, documented, photographed, and backed by a UK company you can call, message, and hold to account.

Japan sells a gamble. We sell certainty.

FAQ

How much does it cost to import a car from the UK to Cyprus?

Three main costs: import duty (0% for UK-built vehicles with proof of origin, otherwise 10%), Cyprus VAT at 19% on the customs value, and shipping, which we quote per vehicle. Our calculator gives you the full landed cost for any car in about a minute.

How long does shipping take?

Typically around 14 days to Limassol by sea. For urgent deliveries, our express route through Greece arrives in around 6 days.

Will I pay VAT twice — in the UK and in Cyprus?

No. We sell export vehicles zero-rated for UK VAT. You pay 19% Cyprus VAT on arrival, once.

Which cars avoid Cyprus import duty?

Vehicles built in the UK qualify for 0% duty under the UK–EU trade agreement — most British marques. We confirm eligibility for every car and supply the statement of origin.

Can I track my car during shipping?

Yes. Every customer receives a private tracking link showing all ten stages of the journey, from purchase to delivery.

I'm relocating to Cyprus. Can I import my car tax-free?

Possibly — transfer-of-residence relief can exempt one vehicle from duty and VAT if you've owned it for six months and import within 12 months of moving. Conditions apply, including resale restrictions. We'll help you check.

RoRo or container — which should I choose?

RoRo is the efficient standard for most vehicles. Enclosed container offers maximum protection for high-value cars. We'll recommend the right method for your vehicle.

03 — Local import rules

What you need to know about importing to Cyprus.

Cyprus is an EU member state and one of our most active routes. It drives on the left, making UK right-hand drive vehicles immediately compatible. As the UK is now outside the EU, standard EU import duties and Cypriot VAT apply, though the process is well-established and straightforward.

Right-hand drive

Yes — Cyprus drives on the left; UK RHD vehicles are the standard configuration

Maximum vehicle age

No strict age ban for personal imports; vehicles over 5 years from first registration may face additional inspection requirements. Vehicles over 12 years incur an environmental surcharge.

Required documentation

  • Certificate of Conformity (CoC)
  • Original registration certificate (V5C)
  • Proof of ownership
  • VAT invoice
  • Certificate of Roadworthiness (for vehicles over 4 years)
  • Customs declaration
  • EORI number (for commercial imports)

Customs duty

10% of CIF value (standard EU external tariff on passenger vehicles from the UK)

VAT / local tax

19% Cypriot VAT on CIF value + duty

Registration cost

Approx. €150 basic registration fee + CO2-based registration tax (€0–€8+ per gram CO2/km depending on emissions band; high-emission vehicles can incur tax exceeding €15,000)

Roadworthiness inspection

Yes — Technical Inspection (MOT equivalent) mandatory before registration; repeated every 2 years thereafter

Notable restrictions

Vehicles over 12 years are subject to an environmental surcharge. CO2 emissions directly determine registration tax — lower-emission vehicles benefit significantly. No LHD conversion permitted.

Port clearance time

2–3 working days customs clearance; 2–3 days for registration processing

Buyer note

CO2 emissions are used to calculate registration tax — obtain the vehicle's official CO2 figure before purchase to estimate your full landed cost accurately.
